It was possible to resolve this issue in Fedora 15 by adding acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux kernel options in the nf. Using System Settings > Screen > Brightness (slide) also does not work. When using Fn+light-up/down (right/left arrow) keys, you can see an icon appearing with moving slide indicating a display brightness change, but the actual brightness does not change at all. P.S.The laptop screen backlight control does not work in Fedora 16. But, I want to make sure I am ordering the right part, before I order it, to save money. So I was going to try an do it myself using online tutorials. I have very little money, and can't afford to take it to a professional.
